Older Posts
Older Posts was an online project, which took place from 2009 to 2012. Using Facebook as a medium, Alessandra relived her teenage diaries, posting entries chronologically (17 years later) on modern social media. Despite the adherence to the original content of the diaries, the project created a fiction, whereby her teenage self mixed with the present day. Comments from other people were important to how the project developed and was perceived. Some of these people she hardly knew; others were mentioned in the diaries (sometimes disparagingly) but had since grown up. The diaries had been written very privately at a time before social media. Through the project, she worked with the interplay between private and public identities in contemporary life and gradually formed a narrative over a number of years.
In 2014, the project was made by My Social Book into one hard copy. Since then Alessandra has deleted each post from the project on her Facebook timeline.
